Germany's 2016 renewable energy surcharge increased by 3%

The German Transmission Network Operator (TSOS) has published a new renewable energy surcharge (EEG levy) for 2016 with a new rate of EUR 0.06354/kWh, a slight increase of 3% compared to 2015.

According to the TSO report, the new renewable energy surcharge levied in 2016 amounted to 22.88 billion euros, basically revenue from solar PV, wind power, etc., minus energy exchange revenue, and the September EEG account situation and liquidity Reserves are taken into account.

The TSO breakdown is as follows: EUR 0.02632 for solar PV; EUR 0.02014 for wind; EUR 0.01668 to EUR 0.0123 for biomass and other renewable energy. Liquidity reserves account for EUR 0.00647; EEG account balance impact is expected to be EUR -0.0070.
